I just signed up for an account but can't send any messages out. How do I activate my account?

Text us at 844-818-0849 to activate your account.

Is this a downloadable app for my phone?

No. CanaryTEXT is a web application that runs on any modern browser.  Native mobile apps for both iOS and Android are in the works and are planned to debut by mid-2020.

How is this any different from just group texting with my phone?

CanaryTEXT assigns you a toll-free phone number, which is then used to send messages—one at a time—to a group of contacts.  Think of it like bcc in email…no one that receives the group text message knows that anyone else received the same message.  And unlike a group chat, replies by one person are not seen by the others that received the text message.

If I don't use up all of my monthly message limit, do the unused ones carry over to the next month?

No.  Unused text message limits do not roll over to the next month.

What happens when I use up my monthly message limit?

You will still be able to compose messages, add contacts, and edit any other aspect of your account, but you will not be able to actually send messages.  Incoming messages will still be received (messaging limits are only for outbound messages, not inbound).

What happens if I hit my monthly message limit during a message send?

Once your monthly limit is reached, outgoing text messages are blocked.  So if for example you have 50 messages left in your monthly allotment, and you sent a text message to 70 contacts, the last 20 contacts that were supposed to receive your text message will not receive it.

How do I increase my monthly message limit?

Can I use a purchased list with this system?

No. Our terms of service require that the contacts you text with CanaryTEXT are actual customers/clients and/or contacts that have opted-in to receive messages from you.  We reserve the right to cancel your account if you use CanaryTEXT to spam people via text messages.  Refer to our Privacy Policy/Terms for additional info.

Where is the password field?

CanaryTEXT doesn’t use passwords in the traditional way, and as such, you will not need to create and then remember a password.  Instead, CanaryTEXT uses one-time passcodes OTPs) sent to your phone.  These OTPs are good for a single login session.  Next time you want to log in, you will receive another OTP via text message. 

What happens if someone replies with a STOP or DND request?

If a reply comes back to CanaryTEXT with a STOP or DND, then that contact record is flagged as such.  Contacts flagged with a STOP or DND will no longer be able to receive text messages unless you manually edit the contact.

What happens if I send a text message to a landline?

If a reply comes back to CanaryTEXT with an error code indicating that the recipient phone is a landline, the contact will be marked as such, and will no longer receive messages sent until/unless the contact is manually edited.

How do I export my contacts from CanaryTEXT?

Go to the Contacts screen, click on the three dots on the top right of the screen, and select “Export”.

How do I cancel my account?

Call us at 919-xxx-xxxx and we will happily cancel your account.

I have a problem and need to talk to a human. Who can I call?

Why not text us instead?  We eat our own dog food, and to prove it, text us at 844-818-0849, which is our main support (text) line.  If it’s after hours, we’ll get back to you first thing the next day.
